I am not sure what type of therapy will help me. How do I decide?
There are many different ways to support people in making meaningful changes. Psychologists are trained in a range of psychological models, and as we explore your needs and goals, we will discuss which approach or combination of approaches is likely to be most helpful for you.
It is common for psychologists to draw on more than one therapeutic framework within therapy.
Where are you based?
I am located in Harrogate, offering face-to-face therapy sessions at:
- 5 Victoria Avenue, Harrogate HG1 1EQ
- 1 Cardale Park, Harrogate HG3 1GY
I also offer online therapy sessions for people across the UK.
What happens during the initial consultation call?
I offer a free 20-minute initial consultation by phone or via Microsoft Teams.
This gives you the opportunity to share what you’re looking for support with, ask any questions, and see whether working together feels like the right fit before deciding whether to commit to therapy.
There is no obligation to continue.
What if I need help from a different service?
Sometimes, after the initial telephone discussion and/or assessment, I may decide that another service would be better suited to help you.
If this happens, I will talk to you about the reasons for this decision and try to help find another service that may be more suitable.
How much is a therapy session?
I offer a free 20-minute initial consultation by phone or via Microsoft Teams.
For self-referring clients, follow-up sessions are charged at:
- £120 online
- £130 in person
Appointments last 50–60 minutes and session fees are payable 48 hours in advance.
Are you registered with insurance providers?
I am registered with Bupa, Aviva, WPA, and Vitality Health.
Are the sessions confidential?
Everything you share in our sessions is treated as confidential.
However, there are limits to confidentiality. Confidentiality may need to be broken if there is a concern about your safety or the safety of others.
If this ever arises, we will always aim to discuss it with you first wherever possible.
What happens if I need to cancel a session?
I have a 48-hour cancellation policy, which means that pre-arranged appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice will still be charged at the agreed rate.
We understand that sometimes you may need to cancel an appointment, so please let us know as soon as possible if you need to cancel.
Non-attendance without prior cancellation will also be charged at the agreed rate.
What if I am having difficulties in between sessions and need urgent support?
Sometimes, you may need more urgent mental health support in between sessions.
I do not offer an urgent care or out-of-hours service and advise you to access your GP, out-of-hours, or emergency services if needed.
Helpful points of contact may include:
- NHS 111
- Any Accident and Emergency (A&E) department
- Your GP for an urgent appointment
- Samaritans – 116 123 (freephone)
